Anyone here get into partner dance much? I've been working on establishing what all the moves (steps if you will) of interactive poi are. Some of the major ones we've played with are interlocking butterfly reels, weaves, and stalls, but there are other ideas that can be explored.

In a lot of the interlocking moves (poi move around partner) each partner does one hand of a single move (for example, we are doing a three beat weave and you are doing the right hand part while I am doing the left hand part). and from that alone there is a lot of material to work with (corkscrews, spiral wraps, air wraps, et cetera).

It's something my friends and I are looking into at the moment. A few of my friends salsa dance, so we're going to try to work some poi spinning into it. It seems like it'll work quite well given the stances and ways the hands interlock while dancing salsa. I know very little about dance itself, but I think there's some real potential there. I'll post in here when we've had a play. Might even make a vid :D

Stu and I have had a bit of a play with this this week. It's a challenge for sure, but silly amounts of fun. More to come methinks ^_^
