I am making my poi setup and am considering different types of chain. Any thoughts-pros and cons to express regarding ball versus different types of link chain? Thanks!

In my experience buy a thin link chain set and buy a shitload of quicklinks, ball chain length, swivels etc and something to cut the ball chain. That way you can make lots of different toys and find out what you really like.

I have found the 2mm chain from firemecca.com feels the best out of any chain i have ver used. Ball chain kinda hurts my hands when doing spiral wraps, and i cant ever do orbitals with them, and they are weak. The 2.4mm chain from homeofpoi get tangled, and its heavy. I think the best bet is a handle of you choice then a swivel, to a heavy duty split ring, (also from firemecca.com) the 2mm chain from firemecca.com, followed by another split ring to swivel, and your choice of head.

The 2mm chain is best, because its the lightest chain i have found, and it wraps the cleanest. Just try it. You won't have it any other way after that!

I also like the 2mm chain from fire mecca. However, keep the following in mind: most quick links (all of the ones I have, anyway) will not fit in the chain links, so you must use a split ring to attach your gear to the chain. Or, if you want to get fancy, you can cut the chain, attach it directly to your swivels, and weld it back together. This is what I plan to do eventually, as soon as I get my hands on a torch. Otherwise, the setup that Derek describes should work for you. Personally, I find that I only need a swivel on the handle end of my chain, but I know many people prefer to have them at both ends. I have a picture of my new poi on my profile, which use the chain in question.

I made both of my sets out of choke chains. They're a good length, and there's a ring on each end, so attaching handles and poi is really easy.
