Minature earth - if the world had 100 people and let's adopt a charity!

Watch the short film

So i'm one of those people who obviously cares for the less fortunate. I try to help people when i can, and i share what i have when i think it would make a difference.

That said i almost never give to charities or other organisations. I am aware that some are run by people that don't use the money to it's full potential, or personally benefit from running the charity. Other times it just does not cross my mind.

Watching that video helped to put it into perspective better than any charity video i have seen before.

I don't do enough to help.

With The Fire Garden heading towards opening a small shop in the future, and the possibility of running events and performances, i think we as a community should find a cause or charity to adopt and support as we grow (i'm sure we could find plenty of ways to do so).

So i ask, if any of us were to give a little to help a charity or organisation, how can you tell that your money is going to the right place? Who would benefit the most from the help of a community?

I would say choose a charity which is run by 'real people'. Small charities (as with any company), run by small, close knit groups of people or families tend to be a lot more transparent and honest (not to mention less tied up with red tape and procedure). I myself like to give when I can, but I can't say that there's a particular charity I'd choose over any other.

Hope I've helped to some extent.

Also - that video link - wow... Like you say... Perspective. It's things like that which make me thank my lucky stars for every opportunity and privilege I've had my entire life.

There is a really great charity i heard of from a friend called "Le Cafe".

Le Cafe has a very simple goal. Twice a week, they serve dinner to anyone who needs it. No matter age, religious or national affiliations, no matter who you are, if you are hungry, if your family is hungry, come to Le Cafe. They will feed you.

And that, well, that’s something I can get behind. Unfortunately i cant find any other information upon it on the web atm but if anyone else wants to look closer into it..
