Great video Aileen! I really liked your SNESFACE combo. I need to get some video of the moves I've been working on lately, I'm trying to get some doubles contact going since Dave retired...
I haven't practiced in a long time. I ended up performing at a few shows so I was always practicing with poi or hula hoop or fire eating for them. I want to sell my staff and get a bit longer one and start practicing again. I'll be practicing a lot…
What staff you take for contact? and what for grip tape you use ?

I just started talking to people in santa cruz that put on shows and they would ask me to perform. Its all about just getting to know as many people as possible, and putting yourself out there. It worked for me. Don't doubt yourself, just got for it…
Hey Helen--I remember your thread on tribe.net too--Keep doing contact! That is the best advice I can offer. Everyday, for at least an hour (if you've got that time). And watch lots of videos. I think the compelling thing about contact staff is that…
Yeah Meg's tutorials are really handy ^_^
So far as tips for fishtails are concerned I'll say this, your hand needs to move fairly far fairly quickly relative to the speed of the staffs's rotation. It's very handy just to balance the staff on the b…

Using your other hand to guide contact moves when first learning them is always a good idea. The pinching with your wrist thing is pretty important for this move.

Poi, Contact Staff, Hoop, Fire Eating, Raving, Dancing
How did you first get into fire / glow arts, and how long have you been involved?
I first started learning to spin poi when I went to my first rave in 06 and saw someone spinning glow poi. I thought it was so beautiful and looked like fun so I started to teach myself. In the year of 07 I went to my first year at Burning Man and saw fire dancing. I was amazed, and from that moment I was in love with fire and decided that I was going to burn on the stage the next year, and I did. I have been fire dancing for over 2 years, and I play with a fire hula hoop, poi, triple poi, levi-stick and I am working on contact staff. I have performed at a few parties and hope to start performing with others and at more events to share my love of fire and the arts.
Tell us about your life outside of fire / glow arts...
I have lived in the east bay my entire life. I am moving to Santa Cruz soon to go to school studying psychology and to experience a different setting.

I have done performances at the Vets hall and I do go to the fire jam at the lighthouse. When will you be moving to Santa Cruz? I think I remember Frankie telling me you would be moving here soon and that he wanted me to meet you.
