3 beat behind the back.

Yes, you can do a 5 beat in reverse, and it is a bit tricky. The key to butterflies is being able to thread the needle in both directions and being able to open and close your butterflies, turning in…

3 beat behind the back.

Archer weaves are fun. Also, can you do a 5 beat yet? You should get that down before you get too locked in to the 3 beat motion, or it will be harder to learn.

3 beat behind the back.

I've been spinning poi for over a year and I still haven't learned behind-the-back stuff, and I haven't really tried. Learn the three beat in forward and reverse, and be able to turn left and right w…

How did you first get into fire / glow arts, and how long have you been involved?
My introduction to the fire arts came from Burning Man (American Dream 2008 was my virgin burn) and the Mid-Atlantic regional burn scene. I first picked up poi and rope dart shortly after Playa Del Fuego in Spring of '09 and hit the ground running. Since then I have branched out to staff, meteor, and fire breathing, and I am just now getting started with fire eating/fleshing and contact staff and juggling.
Tell us about your life outside of fire / glow arts...
I am a mixed media artist and professional chef. I have a culinary degree from Baltimore International College and I am returning to school to get my bachelors in fine arts and design. I have produced gallery shows consisting of my paintings, mosaic and photographs. I love music, dancing, yoga and going to shows, so embracing the fire arts was a natural extension of my talents.
