Our mission is to create a fire community that will gather to play in a safe and inspiring atmosphere.
People generally arrive a couple hours before and leave around three hours after sundown. Actual times vary with the seasons.
How did you first get into fire / glow arts, and how long have you been involved?
I got into fire arts through rave culture. I'd wanted to learn fire dancing for many years but saw it as unrealistic and unobtainable. After seeing poi done at raves and learning that it was a form of fire dancing and that I could learn it I excitedly pursued the art. I've been practicing on and off since July 08.
Tell us about your life outside of fire / glow arts...
I draw largely anime style but have been working on branching out. I also tap dance. I am interested in learning most things artistic. It sometimes feels like I can't focus on one thing as I want to learn everytying. (For example, I randomly decided that I really really want to learn Taiko drums.)
Hey Rachael Ann--You are in Richmond CA? I'm in Oakland--we have spin jams on wednesday nights here, if you're ever up to it, feel free to come by and spin and play! You can practice poi and meet some other poi folks from near by : )
