Poi Lessons - Videos - Articles

Last week:
leg sweeps (can do almost all of them now)
wall plane antispin flower (properly, with the arms crossing)
triquetra (properly, much less sloppy, also upwards/downwards and side)

This week:
4 petal flower turns (yayayayayay!!)
crossers? (almost there, cant do them every time)
split time butterfly buzzsaw fountain? (if that is such a thing, i almost have it down)
and nearly at antispin flowers

plus a host of transitions i couldn't do before, and more that I cant remember.

For this i suffered: broken glasses, various bruises, a split lip.
all from OGGZ damn you! I need to replace my sock poi leashes with strings that dont stretch, so i dont keep hitting myself in the face.

Worth it? depends on how bruised my face is tomorrow.

on my plate: (daunting, yet achievable should i set my mind to it)

1. full body crossers
2. triquetra modes, right and left hand motion
3. pendulum turns
4. spider (split time butterfly in front of body and btb to either side)
5. waistwraps/ btb crossover (omg i've been stuck on this for a year! so close)

considering I almost mastered an entire page of tricks as a new years resolution, I give it 2 months before I can do these 5 things. Yea, I'm awesome like that.

I've taken many a hit to the family jewels, I know that pain too. I'm much more cautious of my groin than my face, i guess. By leg sweeps i mean a single poi passing under one leg, and then out from a gap behind the other (inspin = same side leg as hand, outwards-spin= opposite side). Basic box step pattern. I can't yet do under the leg weaves/reels, but I'm working up to that. A split time butterfly buzzsaw fountain (the way I do it) is a split time butterfly inside the arms on either side of the body (wheelplane, while facing forwards), with one butterfly above the head and one in front of the body linking them. A buzzsaw fountain is same-direction, this is just an opposites variation. I'll post a youtube video to explain this, I've been meaning to do this so people can critique me anyway.

bruised and bloodied face never quite stung as much as an ogg to the family jewels... keep up the good work man, the more you practice the less abuse you take. Trust me its worth it too, because when you spin fire and try to do tricks you don't have down, and that fire ball comes flying towards your face... it hurts more than an ogg... :) May I ask what you mean by leg sweeps? Also split time butterfly buzzsaw fountain? is this an offbeat butterfly with hands together in triquetra motion?
